Corona eliminations continue tonight

The National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue will tonight open its doors for the second night of the Corona Futsal competition, wherein twelve team will compete but only six will make it into the next round.
After tonight’s elimination round, the competition will head into the round-robin phase, and teams will look to finish the group stage in a dominant position in order to get their hands on the $40,000 prize.
Tonight’s first game will pit renowned football club Pele against ward team California Square, who are no strangers to the futsal arena. Their match will commence at 19.30hrs.
The Georgetown Football Club (GFC), who are also new to the competition, will take on West Front Road at 20.15hrs.
One of the most consistent street football teams, Broad Street, will lace up their boots preparatory to taking on fellow ward team Mocha at 21.00hrs in the third game of the night. Following that clash, Order and Discipline will face off against Future Stars, at 21.45hrs.
The penultimate clash of the elimination round will see Beacons taking on Sophia at 22.30hrs, and the final showdown of the night can be witnessed at 23.15hrs, when the equally dominant Eastveldt take on Tiger Bay.
Thus far, Tucville, North East La Penitence, Leopold Street, Back Circle, Sparta Boss and Bent Street have all survived the first round of eliminations.
The teams are competing for the chance to get their hands on the $500,000 grand prize, and bragging rights as the best futsal team around town. The second place team will pocket $250,000, while third place will cop $125,000. The fourth place team will be rewarded with $75,000.
In addition to the grand prizes, teams finishing at the top of their groups will receive monetary rewards. Second, third and fourth place holders in the groups will also be rewarded.
