Corporate Guyana commits to Guyana/Canada showdown

as a lead up to the International Friendly game between Guyana and Canada’s Olympic team on Sunday May 15, a press conference was held at the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Headquarters, Dadanawa Street, Georgetown with sponsors who are fully behind the historic occasion.

Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) was represented by Marketing Executive, Larry Wills who stated that DDL is extremely proud to once again collaborate with GFF to host the International Friendly as part of Guyana’s Independence Jubilee celebrations.

“We [DDL] are very happy to be a part of this event, this is a time of coming together as a nation as we celebrate our 50th Independence Anniversary. We encourage all the fans to come out and support the team.”

Wills also emphasized that DDL’s Pepsi and Gatorades beverages will be available for the players to rehydrate and refresh themselves before, during and after the game.

Ansa Mc Al’s Public Relations Officer Darshanie Yussuf also expressed her pleasure to have Ansa Mc Al through their Stag Beer brand take part in the Jubilee Celebrations.

“It is a time to show our support as a country, we thank GFF to have us on board for the event and we look forward to future partnerships”

Yussuf stated that Ansa Mc Al through Stag Beer has played a major part in developing local football since they are one of the major sponsors for Guyana’s premier football league; The Stag Elite League.

GFF’s Vice President Rawleston Adams thanked the Government of Guyana to have Football added to the list of activities for the Jubilee Celebrations. Rawleston further expressed his gratitude to have both DDL and Ansa Mc Al as sponsors for such a major event in Guyana.

Sunday’s main event will be preceded by a preliminary showdown between the Digicel’s Inter-Secondary School Football Competition Champion Christiansburg/Wismar Secondary as they take on the Milo Secondary School Under-20 champion, Chase Academy at 16:00hrs.

The feature game will see the Golden Jaguars battle Canada’s Olympic team in a much anticipated game set to kick off at 19:00hrs.
