Couchman tops Pegasus blitz chess tournament

Kyle Couchman continued his strong run on the local chess circuit, capturing the top prize at the Pegasus Hotel Sunday Blitz Chess Competition held one day after the conclusion of the National Chess Championships.

The blitz tournament, staged at the Pegasus Suites and Corporate Centre, featured a series of rapid-format matches and brought together several of the country’s leading players, including those fresh from national championship action.
Couchman emerged as the overall winner following a day of fast-paced encounters. Joshua Gopaul secured second place, while Keron Sandiford, also coming off the national championships, finished third to complete the podium positions.
In the junior category, Javier Davenand was recognised as the best Under-15 player, while Varsha Pooran claimed the best Under-15 female accolade.
