The Rose Hall Town Council was not granted permission to carry out its planned list of activities as the town prepares for its 48th anniversary. This is due to a court injunction.
Acting Town Clerk Natasha Griffith related that the injunction to halt the celebrations was sent August 23, 2018.
However, the Rose Hall Town Anniversary and Development Organisation (RHTADO) commenced the celebratory events.
Public Relations Officer and RHTADO founder Andrew Griffith highlighted the list of activities planned for youths within the town and the theme for this year’s celebration, “Working together to achieve prosperity”.

students commenced at the Rose Hall Town Primary School and will see several primary schools vying for top honours.
On September 27, another spelling bee was launched at the Lower Corentyne Comprehensive School and will involve four secondary schools from Region Six. ‘
The PRO also stated that a five-a-side football tournament commenced on September 29 at the Rose Hall Town Primary School’s compound.
In addition, a new security hut was donated by the RHTADO.
The town of Rose Hall is located on the Corentyne Highway, 29 kilometres from New Amsterdam and was formerly a village district. Rose Hall is a community found in Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne).
The town was once owned by Dutch planters and later purchased by field slaves. In 1908, Rose Hall acquired village status and it was not until 1970 that it became a town.
The Rose Hall is an economic hub in the Berbice region. It has a population of about 8000 people in an area of some 13 km. Rose Hall is divided into three wards – Middle Rose Hall, East Rose Hall and Williamsburg.
