A man and woman were on Thursday arrested following the discovery of a quantity of ganja at their Betsy Ground, East Canje Berbice home.

Police have said that, acting on information received, a party of Policemen carried out a search at the home, during which a black plastic bag was discovered under the inner stairway that leads to the upper flat of the house. The bag contained a quantity of cannabis.
Further searches were carried out in the kitchen, and a dark grey bag containing two transparent Ziploc bags and three transparent plastic wraps containing a quantity of ganja was found under a sink.
As a result, the suspects were cautioned, arrested, and taken to the New Amsterdam Police Station. The cannabis was weighed in their presence and amounted to 847 grams. Charges are expected to be laid shortly.
