Courts NA store burglarised, 3 arrested with stolen items

A 42-year-old woman, her son, and nephew are currently in Police custody after they reportedly broke into the Courts Guyana Ltd New Amsterdam Berbice branch and stole a number of items.

Police said the two male suspects are 15 and 18 year olds. The trio made off with a AKT motorcycle valued at $353,000 along with a number of electrical appliances that were subsequently recovered.
The establishment reportedly closed its doors at about 21:00h on Friday, and according to the employees, they secured the premises, leaving all the items intact.
However, on Saturday at about 05:55h, the assistant manager told Police that she received information that the door to the building was open.
She immediately went to the location where she observed that the north-western door was broken. She later made further checks and observed that the mentioned articles were missing.
Acting upon information received, at about 10:00h on Saturday, a party of Police went to the home of the 15-year-old, where he was told of the information received.
Guyana Times understands that while being questioned, the teen told the Police that he along with his 18-year-old cousin went into the Courts building and stole the aforementioned items.
It was then the Police were able to recover a white AKT motorcycle, a dark grey HP laptop, a blue Acer laptop, three headphones, one Extreme skater game, and two computer chargers which were found hidden in a clump of bushes at Strand and Charles Places, New Amsterdam, Berbice.
Acting on further information, the ranks went to another location where the 42-year-old woman was contacted and a search was conducted in a wooden security hut, where they recovered a black Samsung electronic tablet, one TCL black cellular phone, a BLU G61 cellular phone, and a black Radio Shack music box.
All the items recovered were taken to the Central Police Station along with the suspects. The items were subsequently identified by the manager of the store to be the properties of Courts. The suspects remain in custody pending further investigations.
Meanwhile, Guyana Times understands that one of the suspects is also being investigated for several robberies in Region Six ranging from Corriverton to New Amsterdam. On September 28, video footage captured from surveillance cameras revealed that three unmasked bandits broke into Zabire Electronics at Lot ‘N’ Springlands, Corriverton and carted off millions in cash and cellular phones.
It was reported that $2M worth in phones was missing and $5M cash was missing. One of the suspects reportedly admitted to investigators that he was one of the three persons who went into the electronics store.
This publication understands that the suspect sold the stolen items for $800,000 to a businessman in Georgetown. (G-4)
