Cove and John Ashram distributes food, hampers to Enterprise residents
More than 100 residents living in the community of Enterprise, East Coast Demerara on Sunday benefited from the Guyana Sevashram Sangha’s (Cove and John Ashram’s) monthly Seva outreach.
The outreach is part of the Ashram’s ongoing Seva programme to serve fellow human beings (serving humanity is like serving God).
The exercise was hosted at the Enterprise Vishnu Mandir. According to the Pandit of that mandir, he was happy to be a part of the venture and he thanked the Ashram for reaching out to his congregation. He also showered gratitude on the Swami in charge of the Ashram for his efforts in making sure that the outreach was held monthly.
Cove and John Ashram’s spiritual leader, Swami Shiva Shankaranandaji Maharaj spoke to residents during the exercise and encouraged them to pray and to continue to visit their various temples. He also urged those present to continue to uplift themselves and reminded them whatever good thoughts one sent out returned a hundred-fold.
“Every day in our lives we must offer prayer for someone, prayers give us that inner strength to withstand and overcome the problems and negative things in life; when one’s life is full with prayers there will be no room for violence and suicide. Lt us make a change in our home and community by praying for someone,” Swami Shiva Shankaranandaji told residents.
Residents who received hampers also expressed gratitude to the Ashram. Before the exercise commenced, members and devotees of the Ashram were involved in prayers and chanting at the Mandir.
Several communities in Leguan, Mahaicony, West Coast Berbice, and the Essequibo Coast were beneficiaries of similar exercises conducted by the Ashram.
