Zeroing in on the higher transmission rate on Monday, Health Minister, Dr Frank Anthony had stated that “Right now, we are monitoring. We know that if people are not abiding by the precautions that we have established, then people are going to get infected. The subvariant that is circulating is likely the B.A.2 subvariant of Omicron and this is highly infectious.”
“If people are in close proximity to someone who is infected, they would get infected themselves. Even if you had a previous infection but with another variant, then with this particular strain of the virus, you can get reinfected. What we’re advising people is to make sure they take the precautions, especially if they are in an indoor environment.”
Mask wearing, social distancing, and proper sanitisation practices are still to be maintained.
