Health Minister Dr Frank Anthony and Local Government and Regional Development Minister Nigel Dharamlall were also present at the meeting, along with members of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF), the Guyana Police Force (GPF), and other officials, the Department of Public Information reported.
The Prime Minister, the DPI stated, received a briefing on the increase in countrywide testing as well as the increase in the number of cases resulting from amped-up testing. The current emphasis of the Task Force is to look at continued restricted access to and from Brazil; a review of the current operations at checkpoints in bordering regions and a focus on facilitating increased medical response in Regions One, Seven, and Nine. In the areas of economic and social responsibility, focus is being placed on the provision of hampers and sanitation supplies to vulnerable areas. Recently, communities in Regions Eight and Nine received the PPP/C Government’s assistance, and the Task Force will now focus their attention on taking these supplies to citizens in communities located in Region One.
