Crandon impressed with Jaguars’ intensity

The Guyana Jaguars have hit preparation mode despite the uncertainty surrounding the return of the Regional 4-Day cricket for the 2021-2022 season.
The Jaguars are conducting training in small groups, with the focus being strength and condition work.
Guyana Jaguars Head Coach Esuan Crandon has said he is impressed with the intensity shown by the players since the return of training, which began at the National Stadium at Providence and has now moved to the La Bonne Intention (LBI) facility.
The players are training in small groups of four/five while adhering to the Covid-19 protocols.
“Saftey is important for us. The focus is on batting, bowling and fielding skills, along with strength and conditioning work,” Crandon said. Further, He indicated that two practice matches are expected to be played in July, since the weather has been inclement.
“We have plans in place to have a couple of four-day matches for the guys. Hopefully, the weather holds. The effort from the players has been good, with some good intensity. Some guys have not played for a while but they are getting in the groove.
Some of them are rusty but, the important thing is that they are clear on what they want to work on at the moment,” Crandon told this daily publication.
Crandon also credited the presence of the senior players, inclduing Leon Johnson, Vishaul Singh, Keemo Paul and Romario Shepherd.
“The response has been really good, and the guys have been very supportive around the group,” Crandon noted.
The players are also tasked with programmes in the gym, in addition to the net sessions conducted by Coach Crandon and Julian Moore.
