Dear Editor,
The swirling brouhaha concerning recent criticisms against the Judiciary, in particular the CoA, has to be pondered. Isn’t the resort to an appeal against a ruling a form of registering disfavour with the ruling, and can it not be inferred as a criticism against the Judge, and by extension the Court?
So, the right to appeal a ruling is inherent with basic rights, as is the right to respectfully criticise. Once in public office, criticism goes with the territory.
Sincerely,
Shamshun Mohamed
