Dear Editor,
I agree with those who deem David Granger’s latest (Facebook) spiel as a cry for continued relevance. While many are quick to level criticism at the former President (rightly so), many have taken a blind eye to the virtues of his call. As Mr Granger repeats his claims about a “flawed (electoral) report,” he also replicates his appeal for peace in the same breath. Such moral high ground and dignity must not go unnoticed.
Also, I applaud the other supporters of the PNC for their call for peace. “Mr Cool’s” (Mark Welcome) Facebook post, for example, is a case in point. He is hugely disappointed, disenchanted, and disillusioned with the elections results and still seems to harbour anger at the PPP for getting back into power. However, this religious (Christian) man has repeatedly encouraged his supporters to desist from violence. He implores them to promote peace instead.
Many Guyanese have exercised self-control and strength to stand with their Christian convictions rather than giving in to political or racial preferences. People have noticed, which ushers a definite trail towards progress, and it brings glory to God.
God bless the Guyanese people, and God bless Guyana.
Yours truly,
Dr Devanand
