CSTC preps for August’s month of activities

Guyanese race walkers will join their counterparts from the Caribbean and Suriname to compete for honours when the Cavaliers Sports and Tour Club (CSTC) stage its 14th Race Walk Month of Activities during August under the theme, “Race-Walking in a Modern and Safe Guyana”.
CSTC Coordinator Jennifer Major said that this year’s activities would be bigger and better, with more events being held in all 10 Regions of the country.
Activities planned for the month-long programme will include the Club’s annual Juniors Race Walk Camp, Race Walk Workshops and exhibitions as well as an Award Ceremony.
Major believes race walking can become one of the major sports in Guyana with a little more support and assistance.
Locally, the sport is way down the list of prominent sport disciplines, but has a remarkable record of success over the past 10 years.
According to the CSTC Coordinator, the sport is not only a healthy one but a virtual necessity, because, as we grow older, we tend to become less active and need some periods of exercise.
She expressed that the CSTC stood ready and committed to push the sport to become a major part of the sporting landscape.

Pre-Emancipation Race
The cream of the country’s race-walkers in all categories will be in action on Sunday, July 29 as the CSTC wraps up its events for this month.

Interested participants must be at the starting line at 06:00h.
