Cummings Lodge man nabbed with unlicensed gun, raw gold
A 41-year-old man from Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara (ECD), was on Sunday arrested at the Supenaam Stelling, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) following the discovery of an unlicensed firearm and a quantity of raw gold.
The items were reportedly found in a haversack that he was carrying at the time.
Police stated that on the day in question at about 04:10h, ranks were conducting a patrol at the Supenaam Stelling when they observed the suspect acting in a suspicious manner. As such, a search was carried out on his person but nothing was found.
However, a search was done on a black haversack bag that he was carrying on his back and it was then the Police unearthed an unlicensed black 9mm Luger pistol and 6 live matching rounds of ammunition.
Further, 16 ounces and 4 pennyweights of raw gold was found wrapped in duct tape, inside the bag. The man was arrested pending charges.
