Cutlass wielding husband jailed

A carpenter from Paradise Village, Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam) was sentenced to two weeks imprisonment after he was found guilty of threatening behaviour.
Andeshwar Boodha, 52, appeared before Magistrate Sunil Scarce at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court charged with threatening behaviour towards his wife. He and his wife share a relationship of 31 years.
According to Prosecution’s case on 19 April, 2016 at Paradise, he made used of threatening behaviour towards Linda Singh thereby breaching the peace. He however denied he threatened his wife and a not guilty plea was recorded.
The court heard that on the day of questioned, the defendant went home and told his wife that that night was the last night for her to live. He then picked up a cutlass and ran her and threatened to burn the house down. The wife in fear ran to her room and locked herself in. She then called her daughter, who sent the police to the house.
The defendant was arrested and charged. On Wednesday Boodha was found guilty of the offence and jailed.
