CWI Women’s T20 Blaze tournament: Guyana aiming to bounce back against Trinidad and Tobago

The Guyanese Women will be aiming to bounce back against their Trinidad and Tobago counterparts today (Thursday June 9) at Providence in the second round of Cricket West Indies Women’s T20 Blaze.
The two teams will play the first of three matches at the National Stadium at Providence, EBD from 10:00h local time, and the Guyanese would be hoping that their collective batting clicks after they failed to chase down 87 runs against Barbados in their opening match.

Guyana will be aiming to bounce back after that defeat against Barbados

Trinidad and Tobago themselves have suffered a 79-run defeat against Jamaica in the third match on the first day of the tournament, after a batting collapse which saw them being bowled out for 55.
With the batting prowess of both Guyana and Trinidad under the microscope, the team that bats better may emerge victorious.
West Indies all-rounder Chinelle Henry had helped Jamaica secure a 79-run victory over Trinidad and Tobago. Tall and capable, Henry smashed the first half-century of the tournament – 52 off 38 balls, with seven boundaries – as Jamaica made the day’s highest score: 133-6 off 20 overs.
Natasha McLean got the Jamaicans off to a flying start with 30 off 27 balls, which included five boundaries. She and Rashada Williams posted an opening stand of 29, before Williams fell for 10. Skipper Stafanie Taylor added 14, which included two boundaries.

The Women’s action will continue today at Providence, and admission is free

Caniesha Isaac was the best bowler for Trinidad and Tobago with figures of 2-21 from four overs. Neisha-Ann Waisome, a veteran right-handed medium pacer, bulldozed the Trinidad and Tobago batting line-up. Known as “Gabi”, Waisome tore through the middle-order to finish with career-best figures of 5-8 from four overs. Only Kirbyina Alexander managed to reach double figures, being the last T&T wicket to fall, for 15.
Trinidad and Tobago were all out for 55 in 13.3 overs. Henry completed a good match with figures of 3-1-20-2.
The excitement will continue on Thursday with the second round of matches at the Guyana National Stadium.
