Cyclist seriously injured in Yarrowkabra accident

A pedal cyclist is nursing a fractured clavicle and spinal injury after he was reportedly struck down by a motor car along the Yarrowkabra Public Road, Soesdyke-Linden Highway on Tuesday morning. The injured man has been identified as 27-year-old Damian Edwards of Madewini Soesdyke-Linden Highway.
Based on information received, on the day in question at about 7:30h, motor car PYY 974, driven by a 23-year-old man of Central Amelia’s Ward, MacKenzie, Linden, was proceeding along the Yarrowkabra Public Road when it is alleged that Edwards rode out from a track, turned onto the roadway and into the path of the vehicle.
As a result, he fell onto the roadway and sustained injuries about his body. He was picked up in a conscious condition by the said driver of the motor car and other public-spirited citizens and taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre where he was treated and transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Whilst there, he was further examined during which it was confirmed that he suffered a fractured clavicle and spinal injuries. He was admitted to the medical facility in a stable but serious condition.
The driver was subjected to a breathalyser test but there were no traces of alcohol in his system. He remains in custody assisting with investigations.
