Cyclists rewarded handsomely for outstanding year

– John heads list

The “Crème de la crème” of Guyanese cyclists saw their yearlong efforts being rewarded by the Guyana Cycling News on Sunday evening at their annual Award Ceremony and dinner held at El Club Latino.
After an outstanding year at the inner circuit of the National Park and Guyana’s roadways; Team Coco’s Jamual John received just desserts and picked up the prize for the best Senior Cyclist. He was followed by Paul DeNobrega, Alanzo Ambrose, Hamzah Eastman and Geron Williams who also turned in exceptional performances in 2017.

Meanwhile, the top Junior Cyclist award went to Briton John with Curtis Dey and Nigel Duigud following sharply behind.

Jamual John capped an excellent year by copping the best Senior Cyclist award

In the Masters (Under-45-years old) category Team Coco’s Junior Niles took away top prize; Ian Jackson and Lear Nunes took the other awards in that category. Kennard Lovell was the top Over-45-year old cyclist.
Though not yet a Juvenile rider, young Jonathan Ramsuchit’s impressive form on two wheels did not go unnoticed as he copped the prize in that category miles ahead of any competition.
Claire Fraser-Greene was the lone female awardee as she was recognized for her consistent performances throughout the year.
All in all, the cyclists in Guyana enjoyed a fruitful year locally and must be applauded for their consistency and hard work sometimes in difficult circumstances. A word of encouragement must go to the organizers and sponsors who have shown tremendous commitment to the sport once again.
