“Dash for Cash” cycling meet to close off season

– GCF Awards ceremony set for Saturday

United We Stand Cycling Club will hold an end-of-season cycling meet on Saturday at the inner circuit of the National Park.
The “Dash for Cash” feature race is set to attract the country’s top cyclists as the 30-lap event will no doubt serve as a key incentive. For every lap of the race, cyclists will have an opportunity to win a cash prize.
The in-form Jamaul John is sure to be in action alongside Geron Williams and Paul DeNobrega; the trio in any race is always a treat for cycling fans who can expect keen competition from the wheelmen.

Jamaul John is a favourite to take Saturday’s “Dash for Cash” race

The action will begin at 08:00h on Saturday, with at least seven races slated for the day. Meanwhile, the 70-mile road race that was slated for Sunday has been postponed as it clashes with another event. The race was scheduled to commence from Homestretch Avenue to Long Creek on the Linden-Soesdyke Highway and back to the point of origin for the finish. The new date for that race will be announced in a subsequent article.
Meanwhile, on Saturday afternoon, the Guyana Cycling Federation (GCF) will hold its awards ceremony at the Windjammer International Hotel in Kitty. At the ceremony, cyclists who would have churned out impressive results throughout the past year in the “points” races will be rewarded for their hard work.
The last points race was won by Alanzo Ambrose; however, Jamaul John is currently the country’s leading cyclist sitting atop the table ahead of Paul DeNobrega, who is a close second. The GCF Awards ceremony will begin from 17:00h on Saturday.
