DCC make light work of GNIC

GDA/GCA U-17 T20 tourney
Sachin Singh and Daniel Mootoo powered the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) to an easy five-wicket win over the Guyana National Industrial Company (GNIC) when the Guyana Diabetic Association (GDA)/Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) Under-17 T20 competition continued.

Sachin Singh led DCC to another comfortable win in the ongoing GDA/GCA U-17 T20 tourney

The finals of the round-robin stage ended with the defending champs successfully beating off the GNIC team in Wednesday’s match played at the Everest Ground. Although short, the match favoured DCC from the inception after they kept GNIC to 77-6 in 20 overs.
Mootoo, the young off-spinner, bagged 3-3 from four overs while right-arm medium pacer Elisha Bobb snared 1-3 from his two overs bowled. GNIC were indebted to top-scorer Trevon Jones, who, despite lacklustre performances from his teammates, hit two sixes and a four in his 23 with additional support coming from Raymond Bandhu with 15.
Chasing a meagre total, the Queenstown team surged to 81-5 on the back of Singh, the Guyana youth batsman, who, batting at number five, smashed a pair of sixes and a four in his top knock of 29. His innings was supported by Brandon Jaikaran, who was the next best scorer for DCC with 11.
Right-arm seamer Jeffery Blair stood out among the GNIC bowlers although his good figures of 2-12 from three overs failed to aid his team’s defence. With the preliminary rounds over, DCC will now await the outcomes of other matches in the Zones.
