DCC trio depart for England with West Indies Under-16

A talented trio of players from the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) led by left-arm spinner Ashmead Nedd, opening batsman Sachin Singh and pacer Qumar Torrington departed these shores on Tuesday to take up the golden opportunity given recently when they were selected to represent the West Indies Under-16 team.

The players will be engaged in matches against some of the top English U-16 teams in a 50-over invitational tournament, being held from August 10 to 21.

All three of the youngsters have represented their country at the national level and they were the only players selected from Guyana.

Before departure, they were presented with tokens from Chase Academic Foundation via a donation by club mate Orande Chase, son of Henry Chase, principal of the private school.

WI U-16 vs South West England at the Banbury Cricket Club (August 15)

WI U-16 vs Hampshire EPP at the Ageas bowl (August 16)

WI U-16 vs London Schools EPP at the Shenley Cricket Centre (August 18)

WI U-16 vs England’s Barmy Army Colts Stanmore at the Cricket Club (August 19)

WI U-16 vs London & East Region at the Merchant Taylor’s School (August 21)
