DDL on board ExxonMobil U14 tournament

The Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) have locked in their support for the ExxonMobil Boys and Girls Schools Under-14 Football tournament, as had happened in previous years, when they made their support for the tournament official on Tuesday morning at their offices at Diamond, East Bank Demerara.
This tournament is set for a tentative start this weekend.
From the inception of this tournament, the Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) have always played a supporting role, especially in providing refreshments for the participants.

Speaking at Tuesday morning’s press conference, Brand Manager Larry Wills highlighted the company’s willingness to contribute to the development of young athletes.
“The last time we would’ve sponsored this tournament would’ve been, I believe, in 2019. the pandemic…that everything would’ve been on a halt, but I’m really glad that we’re able to resume and continue to support the development of kids and sports throughout Guyana,” Wills explained.

He added, “It is something that we pride ourselves in: giving back to communities, giving back to the kids to ensure that they get that opportunity to develop the skills necessary in schools, national and international.”
In his remarks, Petra Co- Director Troy Mendonca took time to shed light on the value of DDL’s support, while extending gratitude to the company. Mendonca said, “We want to say how important this contribution is. We want to continue to encourage you to give your support, because it’s not just a contribution, it’s an investment in these players, and we’ve seen so many players come through the ranks. So, on behalf of Petra and the entire football fraternity, we want to thank you in a big way.”
The Boys and Girls Under-14 tournaments were scheduled to commence this Saturday, July 30, but the organisers, Petra, are gauging the persistently adverse weather pattern before making an official announcement about the start of the tournament.
“Once the weather holds, we will make that decision as soon as possible, either tomorrow or Thursday. If not, we’re forced to push back again, because we want to make sure that the facility is properly prepared,” Mendonca informed about the effects of the weather.
In total, 24 Boys’ teams and 8 Girls’ teams would be competing in these ExxonMobil Under-14 tournaments.
