The fifth Edition of the Guyana Armature Basketball Federation Road to Mecca V Club Championship 2018 got off to an excited start on Saturday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
Mecca V promises to be a very competitive one as victories went to for defending champion Colts, debutants Eagles, Royals and Ravens.
In the opening match, Eagles defeated Kobras 63-51, then Colts trounced Bulls 99-50, Royals sank Nets 78-61 while in the feature game, Ravens defeated Guardians 65-57.
Action in MECCA V entered its second day on Sunday will see the tournament progress on Wednesday April 11.
The 12 teams will battle for the coveted title and winner’s purse of $600,000 while second takes home $400,000 and third – $200,000.
