Decomposed body found in Corentyne house

The partially-decomposed body of a man was on Wednesday morning discovered in a house at Number 71 Village, Corentyne, Berbice, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne).

Dead: Ramesh Dhanraj

Dead is 45-year-old Ramesh Dhanraj.
Speaking with Guyana Times, the man’s daughter Samintra Dhanraj, of Crabwood Creek, said her father would normally call, but there was no contact over the past week causing her to visit his home. “Normally when we call, he would answer and if he is not home by night time, when we call, he would answer, but he was not answering, so we decide to come and check,” the 26-year-old woman said. She added that when they arrived; at the gate, they were hit with an unpleasant odour. Neighbours were then alerted and a young man ventured to a window and was able to see Dhanraj’s feet on the floor next to the bed. At the time, it seemed that his feet were swollen.
The Police were called in and broke into the house where the partially-decomposed body was found lying on the floor in the bedroom. Dhanraj, who had been living at the location for the past year, was last seen on Sunday by villagers. He had been the caretaker for the building which housed a general store before the owners closed the business and migrated. (G4)
