Decomposed body of fisherman found at Leonora seawall

The fisherman’s body that was found

The decomposed body of a 40-year-old fisherman of Ocean View Uitvlugt, West Coast Demerara (WCD), was on Monday afternoon discovered at the Leonora seawall.
The dead man has been identified as Sadar Sookdeo, also known as “Rakesh”. Police stated that the body was discovered at about 14:23h by a Police rank who was on duty in the area at the time.
Guyana Times understands that when the body was found it was clad in a pair of black boxer briefs.
Following the discovery, a report was made and ranks attached to the Leonora station visited the scene.
Upon their arrival, the scene was processed and no mark of violence was seen on the man’s body. It was then escorted to Ezekiel Funeral Parlour where it awaits a post-mortem.
Just five days ago the body of an unidentified man was retrieved from the South Road canal at Croal and Wellington Streets, Georgetown. The man’s body was discovered by a passerby.
Following the discovery, the Police were immediately summoned and an investigation was launched.
The unidentified body was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital mortuary awaiting proper identification and post-mortem.
