Decomposed body of man found in ECD house

The decomposed body of a 55-year-old man was on Monday discovered in his Non Pareil, East Coast Demerara (ECD) house. The dead man has been identified as Suresh Seaukumar also called “Charles”.
Based on reports received, Seaukumar was an alcoholic who lived alone and was last seen in his veranda during the month of June 2023.
Police stated that the man’s daughter went to his home to check on him on Sunday but the building was locked and as such, she left. The daughter, Noorena Seaukumar, resides at Herstelling, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
However, the woman went to the Vigilance Police Station on Monday where she told Police officers that she had not seen or heard from her father for seven months, since they were not on speaking terms.
The officers, accompanied by the woman, went to the house. The main access door was reportedly broken to get access.
Upon entering, the man’s body was found lying on a bed in one of the bedrooms in an advanced state of decomposition. The body could not have been examined for marks of violence due to the decomposition.
A post-mortem is expected to be performed on the body shortly.
