Decomposed body of pensioner found in Berbice home

Police have launched an investigation into the death of 75-year-old Barah Matthews, called “Patsy”, whose decomposed body was discovered in her home at James Street, Rampoor village Springlands, Corriverton Berbice between Tuesday and Thursday.
Based on Police reports, the now dead woman had lived alone at the above address, and had last been seen at her home by her son on Tuesday at about 13:00h. He reportedly had visited her, and they had spoken for a while before he left.
However, on Thursday, he reportedly made several telephone calls to her phone, but all went unanswered. Thinking something was amiss, the son went to the woman’s house at about 21:50h, where he found the entire house secured from the inside.
He called several times for the woman, but got no response. He reportedly forced his way into the house, and then he found her motionless body lying in her bedroom.
The matter was reported to the Police, who observed that that body was in a highly decomposed state. It has been taken to the Anthony’s Funeral Home to await a post mortem. (G10)
