“Deep Jale” for Indian Monument Site this weekend

The Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha will usher in Diwali 2023 with ‘Deep Jale’ – a cultural extravaganza to be held at the Indian Monument Site, Palmyra on Saturday, October 28, and Sunday, October 29.

 

The evening will see the murti of the Hindu Goddess Maha Lakshmi being lit up, symbolising “light over darkness”. The murti would be lit nightly, leading up to Diwali on Sunday, November 12, 2023.
In addition, there will be sacred chants and prayers, and a packed cultural presentation, including songs, dances, and poems among other things. Performing on the first evening will be Nishard Mayrhoo out of Trinidad and Tobago, Kishan Sugrim, Chakra Music Group, and the Crystal-Clear Band along with the talented dancers from Dharmic Nritya Sangh are ready to wow the audience.
President of the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabah, Dr Vindhya Persaud, is also expected to address the gathering.

 

Gates open at 17:30 and admission is absolutely free.
However, the countrywide motorcade will commence on Sunday, November 5 with several in Berbice including the Canje Community Centre Ground; Port Mourant Community Centre Ground; Tagore Ground, and Bath Settlement Ground.

Several others are planned for the East Bank of Demerara, West Bank and West Coast of Demerara, Essequibo Coast, and the Corentyne Coast. The winners of the various motorcades would assemble at the Shri Krishna Mandir on Saturday, November 11 for the grand event.
