GT BEER 8-a-side Football

Defending champions Police have advanced further in the Candy Boss and Antics GT BEER 8-a-side Football knock out tournament, having registered a 5-3 win against Hopetown on Friday evening in the tournament’s first game of this year, which was played under wet conditions.
Having thrown away numerous scouring opportunities, Hopetown have regrettably been eliminated from the tournament.
Scoring for Georgetown Police were Rawl Kaleb, in the 9th minute; Deon Rodney, in the 13th and 15th minutes; Dexroy Adams, in the 21st minute; and Travis James, in the 45th minute.
For Hopetown, Tofa James scored in the 6th minute, Darrel Douglas in the 24th minute and Kevin Garraway in the 57th minute.
Cougars 20s were also sent packing as Number 5 recorded a win against them in game two.
The teams having played to a goalless draw at the end of regulation time, the winner was decided via penalty kicks.
Goalkeeper Elvis Thomas was the Number 5 hero, as he saved the first shot from Cougars in the sudden death penalty shoot-out.
Action continues this Sunday evening with another double-header being played at the All Saints Ground on Princess Elizabeth Road in New Amsterdam.
Game one will see Golden Stars taking on Rosignol United, while game two will feature Monedderlust and Soccer City.
The final is set for January 5, 2019. At stake in the competition are $600,000 for the winner and $300,000 for the runner-up team. The third placed team would receive $200,000.
Additionally, the MVP, the best goal-keeper, and the person scoring the most goals would each receive $50,000.
