Demerara, Berbice record wins

GCB/Dave West Indian Imports and Exports U-15 Inter-county Tournament…

The GCB/Dave West Indian Imports & Exports U-15 Inter-county Tournament rolled off on Sunday February 16 at the Georgetown Cricket Club ground at Bourda and at the Lusignan Community Centre ground, East Coast Demerara.

Nicholas Sheopersaud

The match at Bourda featured the President’s XI clashing with Berbice – a match which Berbice won by 206 runs.
Man-of-the-match Rampertab Ramnauth stroked an impressive 96 runs off 98 balls to fuel the Berbice win, while Avishkar Persaud contributed 66 and Rashaad Gafur contributed 30.
Sanjay Algoo registered 29 runs and Kevin Kisten 11 to top the Berbice score at 286-4 off their allotted 50 overs. The bowlers John Persaud and Tariq Walker each took a wicket.

Rampertab Ramnauth

The spectators at Lusignan witnessed Essequibo battling Demerara, with the latter winning the match.
Inserted to bat, the Essequibo innings collapsed at 56 runs scored by the 36th over, with Shazif Mohamed being the only batsman to reach double figures, 12 runs.
Star players Nicholas Sheopersaud and Sachin Balgobin each collected 3 wickets, while teammate Hemraj Harriprashad supported with figures of 2-11.
Demerara successfully chased down that score in just 15 overs, with Riyad Latif and Nicholas Sheopersaud contributing 25 and 13 runs respectively.
Bruce Vincent, in a courageous attempt to restraint Demerara, collected 2-28. Demerara won by 7 wickets.
Round two of the GCB/Dave West Indian Imports & Exports U-15 Inter-county Tournament will see Essequibo competing against the President’s XI at Everest, and Demerara facing off against Berbice at Lusignan on Tuesday, February 18. (GCB)
