Democracy has triumphed!

Dear Editor,
The US Secretary of State was here, and what a stir he created. First, it caused the PNC-led Coalition to demand the agenda as it pertains to the discussion that was to be held with the new Government of Guyana. They wanted to know what was going to be discussed, as is much else.
Secondly, the Coalition filed another election petition, which is very important because it coincides with the American theme of “the restoration of democracy in Guyana.”
In the first place, seeing they, PNC, were not invited, they are in no position to demand an agenda from anyone. They have to wait until discussions are complete, at the end of which a communique would be announced. The Coalition must realise that they are not the Government of Guyana and, as such, must sit quietly in the sidelines and let democracy and a normal Government do its work. Bullyism and strong man politics, which are so much a signature statement of the PNC, are no more; the faster they get it, the better.
And as they usually call the USA the “big bully”, then the big bully has spoken quite emphatically, that “we will not tolerate the installation of an illegal regime”, which is the exact statement of Mr Pompeo. Democracy has triumphed!
In the second instance, filing a second election petition tells that the PNC are still trying to impress, if not fool, their constituents that they are on top of the situation with these multiple filings. The truth of the matter is that it does not matter how many filings are made, the fact is our court would deal with the pertinent aspects of the lawsuit, and that is that a fraud was not committed; or are the petitioners the perpetrators of the fraud?
Key and fundamental to the issue of an election petition is the submission of the SOPs, which the Coalition are not willing to supply. So, I see this election petition case would come to a swift end when it comes up for hearing.
Rigging is dead, never to be resurrected.

Respectfully,
Neil Adams
