Home News Diamond shooting leaves family traumatised
Police are investigating an alleged shooting incident which occurred in Diamond on the East Bank of Demerara on Monday evening, leaving a mother and her two adult sons traumatised.
According to information received, the incident occurred on the evening in question at around 22:30h.
Police reports indicate that the shootout occurred in front of a two-storey concrete building located at Section A, Block X, Diamond.
The owner of the home, identified as 57-year-old Anita Alli, reportedly told investigators that the lower flat of her home was being used as a storage bond and only the upper flat was occupied by herself and two of her six sons.
One of the woman’s sons, identified as 25-year-old Steven Alli, was in his bedroom on his bed while his mother and 29-year-old brother were reportedly asleep in their respective rooms.
He recalled hearing several loud explosions and upon checking, observed several holes in the eastern window of the house, which appeared to be bullet holes.
The Police were quickly contacted and upon further inspection, six pieces of metal fragments were found on the floor of the sitting room and two 9mm spent shells were found on the road, near the house.
Thus far, the person or persons responsible have not been identified. However, an investigation has been launched.
