The Diaspora Unit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on Wednesday donated to the University of Guyana (UG) copies of a medical book written by Guyanese Physician Dr Wazir Kudrath.

The book, Physiology: Prescription for the United States Medical Licensure Exam (USMLE) – A Concise Conceptual Approach, was handed over to the Library of the University.
In a release, the University said the objectives of Dr Kudrath’s medical book are to provide a framework that outlines and explains high yield topics, discuss common pitfalls, and provide an approach to clinical application, among other things.
Chief Librarian at UG, Gwyneth George, in expressing gratitude for the donation, said, “We are quite sure that it will be useful to our students and our patrons at large.”
Also present at the simple handing over exercise was UG’s Acquisitions Librarian (temp) Surujdai Mangra, who also expressed appreciation on behalf of the University.
“We are thankful for this kind donation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and we hope to have this continuing relationship with the Ministry,” she said.
Guyanese Physician and Author Dr Kudrath is a former student of the Faculty of Natural Sciences at UG, and is now a visiting lecturer at several medical schools in the Caribbean, USA and the Middle East.
Over the last 25 years, he has specialised in preparing students and medical graduates for the USMLE Step 1 Examination. His ability to take materials and present them in a concise and conceptual format has benefited thousands of students throughout the USA and the world.
This is part of the ongoing efforts of the Diaspora Unit to reconnect Guyanese worldwide to be stakeholders in the continued development of Guyana.
The books were handed over by Foreign Service Officers Fardeen Alli and Tevianne Griffith.
