Diesel XI, Superbet XI win in West Coast Zone

The Unity Cup, organised by the Guyana Softball League, continued at the Leonora Primary School Ground despite the inclement weather, but only four matches were possible. The West Coast Zone was able to get in two matches as the inclement weather delayed the start.
In the first match, Diesel XI defeated Marics XI by 37 runs:
Diesel XI batted first and made 105-4 in 10 overs with Mark Braithwaithe clobbering 47 not out off 14 balls which included 7 mighty sixes and one four. Panny Lalaram and Nandsam Rataram contributed 35 (5×6) and 22 (3×6) respectively. In reply, Marics were bundled out for 68 in 7.1 overs with Racindra Sukwah 2-9 off two overs and Nanbram Rajarm 2-5 being the destroyers.
In the other match, Superbet XI got the better of Crossbreed XI in a grudge match and high emotions. Crossbreed XI won the toss and batted but were limited to 93 all out in 9.3 overs:

Action in the ongoing Unity Cup softball cricket tourney

Malcolm Hoddaro with 32(4×6) was the top scorer. Feroz Rahan rattled the stumps four times as he ended with 4-9 in 2 overs for Superbet XI. Superbet XI in reply raced to 99-5 in 6 overs with Feroz Khan making a quickfire 48 (7×6) off 12 balls opening the batting and was only stopped by the run out route as the bowlers had no answer for his onslaught.
Malcolm Hobbit took 3-22 from 2 overs bowling after Khan’s dismissal but his effort was in vain as the others couldn’t hold the pressure.
Lower East Coast/East Bank/Georgetown/Linden Zone:
Success Enforcers destroyed Better Hope by 9 wkts: Better Hope won the toss and batted but could only get to 53 allout in 9.3 overs. Rabindra Sookram took 3-16 off 2 overs and Dindial Lachan 3-3 off 1 over. In reply, Success Enforcers knocked off the runs scoring 54-1 off 4.3 overs with Chris Sookram cloobering 32 not out off 11 balls which included 4 sixes.
Farm continued their unbeaten run defeating Enterprise Youths by six wickets: Enterprise Youths batted first and scored 104-5 in 10 overs with Kushial Beepat scoring 35 (3×6;1×4); Ameer Khan took 2-16 off 2 overs bowling for Farm XI. In reply, Farm XI made 110-4 in 9.5 overs. Travis Alphonso guided them with an unbeaten 47 off 16 balls and included 4 sixes and 2 fours.
Additionally, the one ball which carries a winning prize of $10,000 plus a trophy will continue in the various areas.
