This contribution was made on Saturday during the company’s visit to the region for the second annual triple-treat Curried Duck and Softball Cricket competition.
“The new school term begins on Monday, and we thought it would be the best time to assist those who need it most. Giving back to those in need and supporting community and family-oriented events is something that Digicel always finds time for; this (occasion) is no different. We know this will reach the children, thanks to the Department of Education,” PR Manager Vidya Sanichara has said.
The REDO thanked the cell phone company for the ‘timely’ donation, and noted that it would go a long way in assisting those children and parents who are in need.
The Department of Education in Essequibo usually conducts school visits at the beginning of the new school term, and will be distributing the school packs during that time. Students to benefit from this Digicel donation are from Lima Sands, Pomeroon, Mainstay, Tapacuma, Kapoey, Dredge Creek, Mushabo and Bethany.
