Dirt bike riders to converge at Ogle

Stag Beer Grass Track Finals…

The day many grass track fans were eagerly anticipating has arrived and they should be in for a treat when the Stag Beer Grass Track finals get underway from 11:00h today at the Ogle Community Centre Ground, East Coast Demerara.

The professional daredevils will have five races at 12 laps while the Novices will have 10 laps and the Chappy will race five laps.

In the professional category, leader Ravin Ramcoomar, Stephen Noreiga, Jerry Da Silva, Vikash Ramkumar, Marlon Baksh, Raj Rajkaran, Alvin Balgobin, Andy Wong and Peter Tulsie will be racing for championship honours.

Currently Ramcoomar leads the point standings with 65 points while defending champion Andy Wong is in second place on 60 points while Raj Rajkaran is tied in third place on 30 points with young Steven De Nobrega.

In the Novices category competition will stem from Avo Ramcoomar, Ishwar Ramkellawan, Nathaniel Persaud, N. Mohamed, Nick Baksh, Rickey Rhodios, Amo Perry, Kevin Dyal, Jackson Baksh, Sid Rajkaran, Daniel Hardeen and Ramesh Latchman. While in the veteran class, Terrace Clark, William, Sheik Yaseen, Raja, Paul Satnarine will look to turn back the years as speedsters.

Organiser Sheik Yassan, who is also the Chairman of the Guyana Grass track Hall of Fame Committee, explained that the likes of Stanley Ming, Kevin Jeffrey, Avery Gomes, Keith Ramnarine, Mike Correia and Jerry ” Max” Govia will be honoured.

Prizes up for grabs will see hampers donated by Ricks and Sari, Roraima Group of Company’s trip for two to the famous Arrow point Nature Resort.
