Disorderly behaviour lands man before court

Shaquille Mingo was fined ,000 by Magistrate Clive Nurse for the offence of disorderly behaviour, which was committed inside a Police Station.
Mingo, 20, appeared at the Linden Magistrate’s Court, where he was also charged with making use of threatening language. It is alleged that on June 21, 2017, he made use of threatening language against Charlene Piggott at Upper Demerara. He, however, denied the charge.
The prosecution is contending that on May 7, 2017, the defendant, who was arrested for making use of threatening language, was at the Ituni Police Station when he began to stomp his feet and speak in a loud tone of voice. After being cautioned several times by Police ranks, it is alleged that the defendant still continued with the disorderly behaviour, which led to him being charged.
In court last week, Mingo admitted to the disorderly behaviour charge, but not the threatening charge. “I did not threaten anyone, Sir,” he told Magistrate Nurse.
He was fined ,000. Failure to pay the fine will result in a default sentence of two weeks in prison. He is scheduled to reappear in court on July 19 for the threatening language case.
