Dolphin Speed Swim Club dominate inter-club meet

‒ McRae, Mahaica, Seaton impressive

On Sunday,  the curtains came down on the inter-club short course swim meet at the National Aquatic Centre, Liliendaal, where Dolphin Speed Swim Club produced the most dominant performances to emerge the top team in the two-day event with  683.5 points after 68 events.
Sea Otters Swim Academy  came in second with 337 points while Orca Speed Swim Club (272.5),  Sliver Shark Aquatic Swim Club (221), Learn to Swim Academy  (76) and  Health Minds  Swim Club  (44) were  the other clubs in the meet.
On the individual side, Ocra’s Earlando McRae return to the pool continues to be joyous as he swept the Boys 18 and over category winning the 50M Backstroke (33.67s), 50M Backstroke (30.62s), 50M Freestyle (25.86s) and 100M breaststroke (1:15.16s). The only event McRae did not participate in was the 50M Butterfly which was won by Trumaine Cole in a time of 28.98s.

In the Girls 15-17 category, the spoils were shared between Dolphin’s Kenita Mahaica and Nikita Fiedtkou while Ocra’s Accalia Khan managed to break the duo’s dominance on a few occasions.
Fiedtkou and Mahaica placed first and second respectively in the in the 50M Breaststroke with times of 40.12s and 42.06s a piece.  The placement was swapped in the 50M butterfly with the winner clocking 33.01s and second place 36.67s.  Mahaica also won the 50M Backstroke (34.62s) but it Khan (35.19s) who edged her way into second place while teammate Anna Isaacs (37.16s) got third.
Fiedtkou managed to extract some revenge, winning the  50M Freestyle (29.74s)  ahead of Khan (30.90s) who tied with Mahaica for second place; Mahaica won the Breaststroke  in a 1:29.25s while Fiedtkou clocked 1:38.53s for second.
Likewise Sliver Shark’s Nathon Hackett’s time of 26.37s allowed him to win the 50M Freestyle while Andrew Jordan (27.84s) and George Telford (27.96s).  He also won the 50M Butterfly in a time of 30.50s but placed third in the 50M Breaststroke (35.32s) which was by Andrew Jordan (34.27s) and Nikhil Ramnarine (34.98s) in second.
Silver Shark’s Leon Seaton Jr. also had some commendable performances placing second  in the boys 11-14 50M Breaststroke (38.24s) behind Sion Jeffers (37.98s). Seaton Jr. won the 50M Butterfly (30.17s), 50M Backstroke (32.67s), 50M Freestyle (27.23s) and the 100M Breaststroke  (1:26.31s).
In the 9-10 category both Aleka Persaud and Paul Mahaica were impressive, winning all their races with some fast times.
