A 48-year-old female domestic worker was on Saturday morning busted with 2.15 kilograms (4.7lbs) of ganja at the Berbice River Bridge. Reports are at about 07:15h ranks on duty at the police checkpoint located at the Bridge stopped and subsequently searched a hire car in which they found five parcels of ganja which weighed 2.15 kilograms. According to Police, the domestic worker of High Dam, Agony’s Avenue, New Amsterdam, Berbice, was arrested following the discovery and is being processed for court. Only on Friday, acting Crime Chief (ag), Senior Superintendent Michael Kingston said that in 2015 there was 851 kilograms 376 grams of cannabis seized by ranks attached to the Guyana Police Force (GPF) and in 2019 this figure has been greatly reduced to 551 kilograms 352 grams to date.
