Two bandits on a motorcycle, one of whom was armed with a gun, pounced upon and robbed two women who were walking home.
The incident occurred at around 20:05h on Friday at Austin Street, Campbellville, Georgetown.
Police said the women, aged 63 and 58, were walking north along Austin Street when two men on a motorcycle approached and blocked their path.
The pillion rider then dismounted the bike, pointed a gun at the women and demanded that they hand over their valuables. “Don’t say a word, give me de bags,” the perpetrator reportedly told the women.
Out of fear, the duo surrendered their handbags which collectively contained $43,000 in cash. After collecting the valuables, the bandits made good their escape. No shots were fired during the ordeal.
