Troy Doris, Guyana’s 2018 Commonwealth gold medallist, will arrive here on Monday in response to the National Sports Commission’s invitation extended to him to visit during the week of Guyana’s 52nd
Independence anniversary celebrations.
Apart from a number of scheduled meetings and courtesy calls, Doris will be a special guest at the NSC’s Sports Awards Ceremony and Dinner which will be held on Tuesday at the Savannah Suite of the Pegasus Hotel.
This event will see over 57 individuals, including sportsmen and sportswomen, as well as sports administrators and journalists, being awarded for their outstanding performance in 2017, be it locally, regionally or internationally.
During his sojourn, Doris is scheduled to visit students of the mining town of Linden, Region 10; call on Her Worship the Mayor of Georgetown, and City Councillors; meet the Honourable Dr. George Norton, Minister of Social Cohesion; and call on His Excellency President David Granger.
He would attend the 52nd Flag Raising Ceremony at D’Urban Park, among other engagements. The National Sports Commission (NSC) hereby thanks Corporate Guyana and Government agencies for lending support to make Doris’s visit a reality. Those include: Airline of choice, Fly Jamaica; Princess Ramada Hotel, Kings Jewellery, Ministry of Public Health, and Guyana Carnival, among others.
