Douglas brothers to thrill Guyanese with fabulous storytelling on Sunday

As the world celebrates Father’s Day on Sunday, Guyanese will be in for a treat, as two of the Caribbean’s best storytellers are expected to perform at the Marriott Hotel in observance of the special day.
Paul Keens Douglas from the Twin Island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and his brother, Richardo Keens Douglas of Grenada, are expected to headline the two shows that are set for 17:00h and 20:00h on June 17.
The two renowned storytellers will be teaming up for the first time, in Guyana along with Farida Chapman and Avion Crooks from Paul’s “Talk Tent” fame which has been staged annually for the past 40 years in Trinidad.
Paul Keens-Douglas was active in drama from an early age and has a wide and varied background in theatre and the creative arts.
Through his colourful characters: Tantie Merle, Vibert, Tim Tim, Slim and Tall Boy among others, Paul has used his personal experiences and keen eye to chronicle life in the West Indies.
His brother’s works include Take Five, Blizzard Press, and Fiery Spirits, HarperCollins (New York, NY); the author of plays “Once upon an Island and Tell a Tale”, produced on CBC-Radio (Canada); and the performance of “The Nutmeg Princess” which was recorded on audio cassette.
Several of Keens-Douglas’s books for children have been translated into French, Spanish, Chinese, and Japanese. Amongst his most well-known books are “The Nutmeg Princess”, “La Diablesse and the Baby”, and “Mama God, Papa God”.
These men and women will share the stage with Guyanese stand-up comedian, Leza Singh. Tickets for the show cost $3500 and will commence at 17:00h; while those who wish to attend the 20:00h show can obtain tickets at a cost of $5000.
