DPP attends Prosecuting Agencies Conference in Canada

Guyana’s Director of Public Prosecutions, Shalimar Ali-Hack, SC, has joined her counterparts from around the Caribbean Region and Commonwealth in Montreal, Canada, to attend the 22nd Heads of Prosecuting Agencies Conference from June 6 to 8, 2023.
The two-day conference is being hosted by the Canadian DPP’s Prosecuting Service.
The meeting will discuss wide-ranging topics of criminal interests; approaches to the reduction of over-representation of Indigenous persons in the criminal justice system, prosecutor wellness and vicarious trauma, best practices in dealing with sexual and domestic violence, national approaches to the assessment of the public interest and impact of bias on decisions.
Participants are from Australia, Uganda, Northern Ireland, Ireland, United Kingdom, New Zealand, South Africa, Singapore, Guyana, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, St Vincent and the Grenadines and Jamaica.
