Dragon Stout Community Cup Futsal competition set for December 17 kick-off
On December 17, 2019 the National Gymnasium will come alive when the Dragon Stout Community Cup Futsal competition kicks off.

The competition, which was originally scheduled to be held in November but was pushed backed to December, will feature 16 teams. It will see matches being run off on December 19, to be followed by the semifinal matches and final match on December 28, 2019.
Director of Sport, Christopher Jones, at launch of the event, noted that the National Gymnasium has seen many futsal tournaments over many years, and many memorable moments have been featured. Jones also said that the NSC’s goal is to see the continued development of futsal, for futsal to be taken to another level in Guyana, and for the expansion of teams emanating from communities.
Jones explained that, in accordance with the vision of the NSC, the Gymnasium has been made available to play tournaments of this kind.
Dragon Stout Brand Coordinator Jamal Baird, speaking at the launching, relayed that he is expecting great competition from the 16 teams participating in the competition, and anticipates a great turnout of fans of the sport.
The entry fee for patrons to witness the competition has been set at $500 per person, and every patron will receive a free Dragon Stout upon entry at the Gymnasium.
The teams participating in the competition are North East La Penitence, Albouystown, Leopold Street, Broad Street, Sophia, LA Ballers, Bent Street, Gold is Money, Back Circle, Sparta Boss, Alexander Village, Future Stars, Tiger Bay, Melanie-B, ANSA McAL All-Stars and Showstoppers.
The winner of the event will be awarded $300,000; while the second, third and fourth place finishers will pocket $150,000, $100,000 and $50,000 respectively.
