Home News Dredge owner crushed by skidder
A dredge owner was on Sunday crushed to death by a rear wheel of a skidder after it encountered mechanical issues along the Polvotario Backdam on the Venezuelan Border.
The dead man has been identified as 41-year-old Kerwin Schultz of Baramita, North West District (NWD), Region One (Barima-Waini).
Based on reports received, the now dead man and two of his employees left in a tractor while other employees were on the skidder in front of them.
However, while ascending a hill the skidder encountered mechanical difficulties, causing it to descend at a fast rate of speed.
Upon realising what was happening, Schultz jumped off the tractor and landed on the road’s surface. Guyana Times understands that as the skidder then collided with the tractor and it was at that time, the back wheel of the machine ran over Schultz.
As a result of the accident, Schultz sustained severe injuries to the body and succumbed before receiving medical attention. His body was transported to Baramita, and subsequently to Georgetown, where it was taken to Sandy’s Funeral Home to await a post-mortem.
