A dredge owner who reportedly confessed to killing a 36-year-old woman of Lethem, Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo) has been remanded to prison.
Rawle Bobb-Semple, otherwise known as John Wick, was arraigned before Senior Magistrate Crystal Lambert at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court, and was not required to plead to the indictable charge.
Police have said that murder victim Rodrigues, also called ‘Chinee girl’, of Amerindian descent, was found dead on a track at Papi Landing, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni) with a chop wound to her head and several other marks of violence about her body. Investigators suspect that the woman was killed at some time between April 12 and 13. Police said she had last been seen alive on April 13 in the company of a man. Police suspect that she might have been raped and then killed.
At the time of the discovery of her body, she was clad in a blue blouse and red-and-black pants. (G1)
