Driver dies after hitting dead cow

The driver of a motor car is now dead after he hit a dead cow on the Mocha-Diamond bypass road, East Bank Demerara (EBD).

Dead is 43-year-old Vishraykanand Narayan, called “Vish”, of Downer Street, Grove, EBD. His 46-year-old wife and a passenger in the vehicle were injured in the accident which occurred about 00:30h on Sunday.
Reports are that motor car PGG 9779 was proceeding south along the eastern side of the new Diamond access road when it struck a dead cow that was lying on the same side of the roadway.
As a result of the impact, Narayan lost control of his vehicle which toppled several times before crashing into a concrete culvert.
Narayan and his wife were picked up in conscious condition by public-spirited citizens, placed in an ambulance and taken to the Diamond hospital.
His wife and the other passenger were treated for minor abrasions about the body and sent away while Narayan was admitted a patient suffering from a fractured shoulder and pelvis along with other injuries and was later transferred to Georgetown Public Hospital.
He was admitted to the male surgical ward, where he later succumbed to his injuries about 06:55h on Monday.
Police have launched an investigation. (G2)
