Driver dies after truck plunges into Demerara River

A truck driver is now dead after the lorry he was operating plunged into the Demerara River at the John Fernandes Wharf located at Water Street, Georgetown.

The incident occurred on Tuesday.

Reports are that it took personnel on-site some 20 minutes to pull the truck out of the water but by that time, the man was already dead.

The driver was reportedly trapped in the cabin of the lorry when it went underwater.
