Essequibo Coast fatal accident
A 20-year-old driver from Abram Creek community in the Upper Pomeroon River, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) is in Police custody following the death of a farmer, whom he allegedly struck at Evergreen Village Public Road.
The 53-year-old man died while receiving treatment at the Suddie Public Hospital following the accident at about 21:30h.
Initially, the young driver had told Police that he was blinded by the lights of an oncoming vehicle. However, Guyana Times was told that a breathalyser test revealed that the young man was well above the legal alcohol limit. As such, the case file was sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions for advice.
