Zameer Ali made an appearance at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court last week and was remanded until October 9 by Magistrate Rochelle Liverpool after he was slapped with several charges, including causing death by dangerous driving.
Ali admitted to three of the charges which stated that on September 20, 2018, he was unlicensed to drive a motor vehicle, was driving an unfit motor vehicle (without motor vehicle insurance) and driving a heavily tinted vehicle.

was not required to plead. Ali was further slapped with a charge of failing to report an accident, but he denied this charge.
He was remanded to prison for the charges he denied and was expected to be fined for the charges he admitted to on his next court appearance.
The accident resulted in the death of 23-year-old, Chapil Dave Kumar of Uitvlugt, West Coast Demerara (WCD).
<<<Guyana Times>>> was informed that Kumar was reportedly standing on the southern side of the Uitvlugt Public Road waiting to cross the roadway when Ali, who was at the time proceeding west on the southern carriageway, struck him before quickly escaping the scene.
Kumar, who, according to an eyewitness account, had his leg severed when he was struck, was picked up and rushed to the Leonora Cottage Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
